A four-story, 40,000-square-foot space will bring the photography center’s exhibition and education spaces together under the same roof.

The International Center of Photography will reopen in a four-story, 40,000-square-foot space in the massive new Essex Crossing development on the Lower East Side on Jan. 25. Photos of the new model residence at 242 Broome, staged by premier design firm ASH NYC, have just been unveiled. 242 Broome is the first condominium to be completed within mega-development Essex Crossing. Designed by SHoP Architects with interiors by DXA Studio, Residence 12B is a stunning three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom residence on the market for $3,250,000 and is one of three available units left within the building. The New York Times calls it the “anti-Hudson Yards.” CityLab says it is a “model mega-development.”

The final bricks are yet to be set for Essex Crossing, but the $1.9 billion redevelopment project on the Lower East Side is already receiving praise for its mix of affordable housing with community amenities. 

Both New Yorkers and tourists are stopping by, as well. A report from the data firm Placer.ai found that the neighborhood received more than a half-million visitors in July and attracted daily crowds equal to that of Hudson Yards some summer days.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — One more condo in Essex Crossing’s first completed building is left if you can put up the $3.2 million to buy it.

The 1,734-square-foot luxury condo at 242 Broome St. hit the market for $3.2 million this week — the last at No. 242 and one of two remaining currently at the Lower East Side’s fancy new development project.
